MINISTRIES

Worship! We offer two worship services each Sunday to celebrate the life God has given us.  Our 8:30am service is traditional in style.  We've got a great organist who accompanies one of the liturgies from the Lutheran Book of Worship, although other time-tested liturgies are offered occasionally, as well.  Communion is offered weekly.  Special vocal and instrumental music often augment our worship.  Our 11:00am service is contemporary in style.  Our top-notch Worship Team (piano, guitar, percussion) leads this service which offers more spontaneity and utilizes contemporary Christian music in our praise of God.  Communion is offered monthly.  If you are musically or dramatically gifted, there's a place for you in worship leadership at LCG!  A staffed nursery is available at both services.  During Lent, special mid-week services are held on Wednesdays (7pm), preceded by Soup & Bread Suppers.  Special services are held during Holy Week, on Thanksgiving Eve and on Christmas Eve.
Education! Sunday School for all ages, pre-Kindergarten through adult, is offered each Sunday morning, September through May, meeting from 9:45 to 10:45am, between our two worship services and "bookended" by our Coffee Fellowship.  We've got a great Sunday School with excellent curriculum, experienced teachers and a good facility.   Our Sunday School Christmas Program is always heart-warming, our Easter Egg Hunt is joyful and the end-of-the-year dolphin watching boat outing is always "sold out."  Each summer we offer Vacation Bible School, as well.  We go all-out with VBS at LCG--and it's awesome!  Ours is an intergenerational VBS (nursery through adults), meeting in the evenings and beginning with dinner.  The Alpha Course is offered regularly (a new class begins Jan. 11, 2007) and proves to be a great refresher course for the Christian, as well as a wonderful outreach tool for unbelievers.  A Christian parenting class is scheduled for Sunday evenings, Sept. 17 through Oct. 22, 2006.  Summertime Bible study and other occasional courses are offered as well.  A "How To Manage Your Money" course will be starting soon, too!
Youth Ministry! We've got a great youth ministry program at LCG!  Meeting on the 2nd and 4th Wednesdays of the month, from 6 to 8pm, our combined middle/high school group has a great time as we begin with dinner (provided by parents), do some singing, play some games and end the evening with devotions.  Energetic and experienced youth advisors, Tammy Anderson and Bill Larsen, assist Pastor with the Wednesday night program.  Tom Santa teaches our Middle/High School Sunday School class each Sunday.  In addition, there are many other happenings, some planned, some spontaneous.  Besides "events," our youth people are very involved in all areas of congregational life--worship, fellowship and service opportunities.
Social Ministry! We put the love of God into action by helping others. LCG supports the Alee Shelter (home for victims of domestic violence), Lutheran World Relief (special offerings for tsunami/earthquake victims), Habitat for Humanity (affordable housing), Prison Fellowship (worship and visitation at the Department of Corrections), Pacific Missionary Aviation (assistance for the Micronesian Islands), The Oasis (empowerment for women) and more. Our Coffee Fellowship (refreshments) after the traditional service and before the contemporary service, is always in need of additional hosts.
Outreach! Begun as the Lutheran Serviceman's Center in 1962, LCG continues to reach out to our military personnel and their families. We continue to look for ways to be a "home away from home" for our Navy, Air Force and Coast Guard folk. Soon 9,000 Marines are scheduled to be stationed on Guam, as well. Additionally, however, we're seeking to reach more non-military residents of Guam, both "locals" and ex-pats.  Currently, LCG members hail from nine different nations--although the majority of our people come from the United States.  We are always looking for ways to better identify, invite and integrate newcomers into our life and mission. Come aboard!
